Battle Standard 142 Gin Navy Strength derives its name, “Navy Strength”, from the British Navy’s practice of proofing gin rations to 114 proof. This was done so if spilled on the ship’s gunpowder, the gunpowder could still be fired in battle.
ABV: 57% (114 PROOF)
Tasting Notes
Don’t let its higher proof fool you, Battle Standard 142 Gin Navy Strength is surprisingly smooth with big, bold, and vibrant notes of juniper, citrus, and cinnamon.
How to Drink
Battle Standard 142 Gin Navy Strength works wonderfully in a Classic Gin and Tonic or Gin Martini. We also recommend the Gin Lime Rickey, Gin Kosmo, Cranberry Gin Fizz or any cocktail that benefits from a bold, delicious gin.
Botanicals
Each of our Battle Standard 142 Gins is distilled with eight botanicals including juniper, orange peel, cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, grains of paradise, angelica root, and orris root. Crafted in the “Contemporary” or “New Western” style, our gins feature less juniper allowing more of the other botanicals to shine.
History
Our Battle Standard 142 Gins are named in honor of the 142 Cadet Midshipmen from the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) who lost their lives serving their country in World War II. Our founders’ alma mater, the USMMA, is the only federal academy authorized to fly a Battle Standard in memory of those brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice.
